Rape Survivor Attempts Suicide Outside Yogi Adityanath’s House
A rape survivor and family attempted suicide outside UP CM Yogi Adityanath’s house in Lucknow on Sunday (April 8). They took the drastic decision after the UP Police refused to take action against rape accused BJP MLA from Unnao, Kuldeep Singh Sengar.
ANI reported that the woman’s family claimed that Sengar along with his accomplices had raped her in 2017. They alleged that the police beat their family up after they filed a rape complaint against Sengar.
“I was raped. I have gone from pillar to post for the last one year but no one is listening to me. I want to see all of them arrested, otherwise I will kill myself,” – the survivor
“I was raped. I have gone from pillar to post for the last one year but no one is listening to me. I want to see all of them arrested, otherwise I will kill myself,” the survivor said, IE reported. She added, “I had even approached the CM to no result. When we lodged an FIR, we were threatened.”
Media reports say that the woman and her kin had first poured oil on themselves and lit a fire outside Adityanath’s residence, but the police rescued them. They took them to Gautam Palli police station where the family once again tried to kill themselves.
Sengar spoke up on the issue and said, “This is a pre-planned incident. There was an incident in their family and police had registered a case against it. Police saved two innocent people, they are making me a scapegoat.”
“I request administration to probe this well & punish the real culprit,” added Sengar.
Lucknow Additional Director General of Police (ADG) Rajiv Krishnan said, “The family has accused Sengar of raping her. While probing the case, we learnt that both parties were in a dispute for the last 10-12 years.”
“The case has been transferred to Lucknow. The allegations can only be proved after a thorough probe,” the ADG added.
