Internet Demands Justice For Civil Defence Worker Found Murdered

Rabiya Saifi case: A Civil Defence Officer was allegedly stabbed to death by a man on August 27 in Delhi. Ever since the murder, demands for justice has gone viral on Twitter making #JusticeForRabiya trend on the microblogging platform.

A 21-year-old defence officer was stabbed to death last month. Identified as Nizamuddin, the accused in the case surrendered in Kalindi Kunj police station after killing the woman. Nizamuddin reportedly claimed that he and the deceased married each other secretly in court. He added that the woman’s family did not support the marriage.

The woman's family has however rejected the finding, insisting that this was not one person's work. The family has also claimed that two of the woman's colleagues were also involved in the case.  The family is now demanding a CBI investigation into the case.

As per the recent updates in the case, the police have ruled out the possibility of rape or sexual assault on the deceased woman. The post mortem report did not show any signs of sexual assault. The police has also sought permission to detain the accused man for the second time. As per the statements given by the police officials, the accused man's claim of being married to the deceased did not get verified in the Saket Court.

According to a report by Aaj Tak, the couple engaged in a dispute due to which the accused kidnapped and murdered her.

Ever since the alleged murder, social media saw outrage on September 4 as local news media reported the incident. Many social media users demanded justice for the deceased woman.

Congress leader Abhishek Singhvi condemned the alleged inaction in the case, according to reports. He claimed that a civil defence officer was brutally raped and stabbed in the country’s capital and there is a pin drop silence by the Delhi police.

Concerning the same, Surajkund Station House Officer (SHO) reportedly assured of a fair investigation in the case.
