The much-awaited interview of Duke and Duchess of Sussex with Oprah Winfrey is expected to touch upon the departure of the royal couple from the UK. The Queen just revealed her plans for the same day. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Commonwealth day celebrations will only take place virtually. The Queen also give a special televised message on BBC One.

The Very Reverend Dr David Hoyle, Dean of Westminster, said, "The Commonwealth Service is one of the Abbey’s most important annual services, but as it is not possible to gather here, we have seized the chance to take the celebration well beyond these walls."

“We are so pleased that this rich and vibrant BBC programme with the royal family and the Abbey at its heart will celebrate our global connections at a time when we are all so physically isolated,” he added. This comes after the Royal Palace announced the official order with regards to the Duke and Duchess departure from the UK. The royal responsibilities earlier shared between Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have now been handed over to the Queen and new appointments will be made for the roles.
