Punjab Minister Lauds Woman, Helps Her Seek Bus Driver Job

A video went viral on social media as a Haryana girl stopped Punjab Transport Minister insisting on getting a job as bus-driver in Chandigarh. The Minister interacted with the girl and asked the concerned authorities to consider her plea for the job. Impressed by such an initiative, people applauded the minister for helping the girl.

In a viral video, Haryana girl Sonia, 25, was seen stopping Punjab Transport Minister Amarinder Singh Raja seeking a job as a bus driver as she waited for three hours to have a word with him. The Minister praised her initiative and vigour and asked the concerned authorities to consider her for the requested post.

The minister also had a brief interaction with the woman seeking bus driver job as he asked about her parents. The 25-year-old said that her mother is in Haryana and her father is no more. Sonia is a sportsperson and is ready to take up challenges stepping into a world dominated by men. She also possesses a Heavy Motor Vehicle (HMV) license.

Amarinder Singh Raja praised her for her dedication and fearlessness and urged the authorities to take up her case as it will send a good message to the society by breaking stereotypes and encouraging other women to stand up.

Soon after, the minister posted on social media sharing the news of the girl being posted as a conductor in PRTC. He congratulated her and wished her well saying, “Happy to share that Sonia has been found eligible and appointed as Conductor in PRTC. I am sure that her commitment in the field will inspire other young girls to choose to break such barriers. I wish her all the best!”
