Migrant Worker Raped Minor: A migrant worker allegedly raped a minor girl after promising to marry her. The alleged sexual assault took place in the Hoshiarpur district of Punjab.

The migrant worker who allegedly raped the 15-year-old girl hails from Uttar Pradesh. It is said that he had developed a physical relationship with her, and even got her pregnant. She had subsequently given birth to a baby boy on March 22. That's when the girl's father lodged a complaint against the migrant worker with the police.

The Hoshiarpur police have now registered a case against the migrant labourer under Section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code. Relevant charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act have also been invoked based on the father's complaint.

Assamese migrant worker raped 60-year-old homemaker, gets death sentence in return

An Assamese migrant worker had raped and murdered a 60-year-old homemaker at Puthenvelikkara in 2018. He was then awarded the death sentence by the North Paravoor Additional District and Sessions Court. The migrant worker named Parimal Sahu was a resident of Nagaon district in Assam and was found guilty of committing the act. He had also tried to destroy evidence. Besides the death sentence, the court also imposed a fine of Rs 2,20,000 on him, which will be paid to the victim's son as compensation.

On April 1, four men had alleged raped a class 10 girl in a village of Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. She was on her way home from her tuition, and was preparing for her board exams. However, the men allegedly abducted her, and raped her in a secluded place. She then died by suicide by poisoning herself. “Two of the four accused, said to be 18 or 19 years old, have been arrested,” Meerut’s Superintendent of Police Keshav Mishra said.

It is also speculated that the girl did not die by suicide but was poisoned by the accused persons after the alleged assault.
