A young officer of the law, Saini took an offbeat route in her search for the accused. Traditional fieldwork aside, she turned to social media with hopes for swift, efficient action. Saini created an account on Facebook and thus began looking for the man named in the case.

Applause For SI Priyanka Saini: Used Unique Search Tools In Rape Case

But with only a first name to go on with, how did Saini proceed on her search? Users of the social media platform will know that a first-name search throws up tens upon tens of Facebook accounts from across the world, sifting through which to find a specific target is a cumbersome, if not near-impossible, task.

Determined to find the perpetrator, Saini used search tools on the site to narrow down the accounts. The location filter added to the search name zeroed down on selective names from the desired area they suspected the rapist was in.

Following that, she "sent random requests to people named Akash," she tells ANI. "I texted many of them but only this man replied." After a cross-check with the minor survivor, who reportedly confirmed the man's identity, Saini exchanged some details with the accused on Facebook.

The information she received was enough to lead the police to him and make an arrest near Sri Mata Mandir. Her search operation has earned Saini recognition from the Dwarka DCP who noted how she "successfully trapped the accused and got him arrested."
