The Uttar Pradesh police have launched a probe after a video of an 8-month pregnant woman and her husband being beaten up by a group of men went viral.
The pregnant woman was beaten up outside her residence by goons after she intervened to save her husband from them. A video of the incident was shot by her neighbours who reached the spot.
Reportedly, the neighbours rushed to the scene after they heard her husband’s call for help.
The Jalaun police have identified the couple that was assaulted as Upasana and Sandeep. The couple was assaulted by a group of men asking about their uncle. After they refused to reveal his whereabouts, they were assaulted by the group.

The Deputy Superintendent of Police, Jalaun Shailendra Bajpai said that the accused, Ravindra, Manmohan, and Manmohan’s son Aadesh reached the couple’s house and hurled abuses against their uncle.
When Sandeep objected, the accused began attacking him and her wife attempted to intervene. However, the accused reportedly abused and thrashed the pregnant woman. Due to the attack, Upasana fainted and fell to the ground and her husband raised an alarm.
Bajpai added, “After seeing the video the police have initiated action against the perpetrators of the incident”.
Earlier this month, a woman was brutally thrashed by her late husband’s family in Gujarat for getting married a second time after the death of her husband. She was dragged on the road, tried to a pillar, and was beaten by the accused.
The former in-laws also chopped the woman’s hair. The woman was identified as Bhanu Sadhamiya, the mother of four children.
The incident was caught on camera and went viral on social media.
The woman’s husband had passed away four years ago in a road accident. Sadhamiya got married to another man around a year ago.
She visited her former sister-in-law Ghugha Hikabhai who hurled expletives at her. This lead to an argument and Hikabhai’s husband and another former sister-in-law Chaku Charoliya chopped her hair.
