She injured herself during a national camp at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in the national capital.

“Hi everyone, there is an update. I recently got injured during practice and underwent an ACL surgery. Rehabilitation has started and I will be back soon,” Dipa posted

According to reports, Dipa had an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) surgery in Mumbai. Due to this, she won’t be able to participate in the upcoming tournament, scheduled to be held in Thailand from May 18.

The 23-year-old is in good hands – being treated by renowned Dr Anant Joshi, who has in the past treated cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar.

Dipa, who is from Agartala, rose to fame when she became the first Indian woman gymnast to qualify for the Rio Olympics last year. However, she missed the bronze medal by a whisker. Dipa stood fourth in her pet event of vault at the Rio Games. Earlier, in the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Dipa had won the bronze medal.

We wish you a speedy recovery, Dipa!
