'Nothing Without Hard Work &Talent': Sania Mirza On What Makes A Champion

The latest Tweet by ANI states, 'PM Modi questions tennis star Sania Mirza the caliber to become champion of the game. In reply to which the tennis star said that it needs hard work, dedication, and firm support. She also mentioned the role of destiny in the same.

PM Modi Sania Mirza Talk: During an interaction with the Prime Minister of India, Sania Mirza was asked about the qualities needed to become a champion of the game. Her reply was simple: hard work, dedication, and firm support. She added that destiny does play a role but it is of no use without hard work and talent.

On July 13th Prime Minister Narendra Modi communicated with a few of India’s Tokyo-bound athletes, it was three days before the first batch departs for the Japanese capital for the upcoming Tokyo Olympics.

When PM Modi asked Sania Mirza about the qualities needed to become a champion of the tennis game, the tennis star replied by saying "The game needs dedication, focus, hard work, and support."

She added, "Destiny plays a role but nothing will happen without hard work & talent.

Along with Sania Mirza, PM Modi also interacted with Neeraj Chopra, Mary Kom, Vinesh Phogat, Dutee Chand among others. PV Sindhu, Elavenil Valarivan, Saurabh Chaudhary, Sharath Kamal, Manika Batra, Sajan Prakash, and Manpreet Singh. 

126 athletes across 18 sports disciplines will be attending Tokyo. This is the first time when India will be sending this large contingent to any Olympics. It is also the highest for the country as 69 culminating events are lined up across these disciplines. The Tokyo Olympics is ready to roll from July 23 and end on August 8.

Sania Mirza is a six-time Grand Slam title winner and known as the path-breaking athlete as she helped in placing Indian women's tennis on the global map. Today, Sania is a sporting and inspirational icon for young girls in India.

Mirza put her career on hold post her pregnancy in 2018. The tennis star got married to Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik in April 2010. She made a comeback in sports and qualified for her fourth consecutive Olympic games in 2021.
