PM Modi And Kamala Harris meeting: During his current visit to the USA, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented American Vice President Kamala Harris with a copy of an old notification related to her grandfather PV Gopalan along with several other gifts.
Gopalan was a well-respected senior government official who served in various positions in India. Kamala Harris was also gifted a Gulabi Meenakari Chess set. The craft is associated with Kashi, one of the oldest cities in the world and also the constituency of Prime Minister Modi.
According to the report, each piece is intricately handcrafted and the bright colours are a tribute to the vibrancy of the city. PM Modi had earlier gifted the Australian Prime Minister a Silver Meenakari Ship, which also portrays Kashi’s undying dynamism.
In relations between India and Japan, Buddhism plays a major role in bringing the two together. On his visit to Japan, Prime Minister Modi gifted Japan’s Prime Minister with a Sandalwood Buddha Statue. He has also visited various Buddhist temples during his previous visits to Japan.
PM Modi is attending the Quad Summit, holding bilateral talks with President Joe Biden and will also be addressing the United Nations, General Assembly. He met with Vice President Kamala Harris and they reportedly spoke about Afghanistan and terrorism, Indo-Pacific Issues, tackling COVID-19, Indo-US relations, etc.
The Prime Minister earlier today tweeted “Glad to have met @VP @KamalaHarris. Her feat has inspired the entire world. We talked about multiple subjects that will further cement the India-USA friendship, which is based on shared values and cultural linkages".
Vice President Kamala Harris created history in 2020 when she became the first woman and person of colour to be elected as Vice President of the United States of India.
