Veteran playback singer Vani Jairam was discovered dead on February 4 in Chennai, at her home. She reportedly fell at her home in Haddows Road, Nungambakkam, in Chennai, injuring her forehead, according to reports. It is still unclear what caused the death.
Vani Jairam, a singer who was recently awarded the Padma Bhushan, passed away on Saturday at her home in Chennai at the age of 78. Early in the 1970s, she began her singing career, and she has performed for well over 50 years. She produced more than 10,000 songs in various languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, and Gujarati, among others, for Indian films.

She received the Best Female Singer Award in 2017 at the NAFA ceremony in New York City. Additionally, she received state awards from the governments of Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Odisha. She has collaborated with eminent composers like Madan Mohan, RD Burman, KV Mahadevan, MS Ilaiyaraaja, and OP Nayyar, among others.
Fans of Vani Jairam posted on Twitter to express their shock at her untimely passing. Many noted that the past two days have been tragic due to the passing of legendary actor-director K Viswanath on February 2.
