Woman Kills Husband To Save Daughter From Sexual Assault, Set Free On Grounds Of Self-Defence

Otteri woman allegedly killed her husband to save her 20-year-old daughter from sexual assault. The woman allegedly hammered her husband to death and surrendered herself carrying the bloodstained hammer to the Otteri Police Station in Chennai. The investigating officers let her free on the grounds of self-defence.

As per reports, a woman allegedly killed her husband to save her 20-year-old daughter from being sexually assaulted by him. After beating her husband to death, the woman surrendered herself to the Police carrying the bloodstained hammer with her.

The Otteri Police Station in Chennai registered a case against the woman under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code and detained her for further investigation. However, the investigating officers let her free as she acted out of self-defence to save her daughter.

The Police mentioned that the woman lives in a joint family with her in-laws, husband and two children. Her father-in-law was a tailor had settled in Otteri fifty years ago and owned a few houses there. Both, the woman and her husband are unemployed and their children are raised by their grandparents. The 20-year-old daughter is studying in the college and her son is studying in VI standard.

While the girl usually stayed with her grandparents, she slept at her parents’ on Thursday night. The woman, her husband and her son were sleeping on the cot while the daughter slept on the floor. The woman alleged that she woke up hearing her daughter’s cries and found her husband forcing himself on her.

When the woman and her son tried to get him off, he pushed them away. That is when she grabbed the hammer and allegedly hit him on the head till he died. After killing him, she went to the Otteri Police Station and informed the Police about the murder she attempted, according to reports.

DCP Eswaran said that the investigating officers will collect the witnesses and evidence to prove that the woman acted in self defence and allegedly murdered her husband to save her daughter from sexual assault. “We will submit a detailed final report before the court after collecting the evidence and witness statements,” He stated.
