Bhavya Rai, Noida Woman Arrested For Assaulting Security Guard, Granted Bail

The Noida woman caught on camera abusing and assaulting a residential society security guard was granted bail. She was arrested for the incident on August 21.

The 32-year-old Bhavya Rai is a lawyer by profession and hurled abuses, assaulted and manhandled a security guard after there was a delay in opening the gates of the society. A video of the incident went viral and Rai was arrested for misbehaving with the security guard.

Chief Judicial Magistrate of the Surajpur court Richa Upadhyay granted bail to Bhavya Rai. Her lawyer Inderveer Singh Bhati argued during the hearing that Rai was arrested “without any notice. Bhati said Rai’s clear criminal history was also considered by the court for her bail. Rai’s counsel also submitted that she was falsely implicated in the case.

Noida Woman Granted Bail

In the video, Rai is seen grabbing the guard and slapping him. Rai was exiting Jaypee Wishton society in Noida’s Sector 126 and there was a delay in opening the gate. She left her vehicle and began abusing the guard.

The security guard, Anoop Kumar filed a complaint at the police station and the Noida police registered a case against Rai. Rai was booked and arrested under Indian Penal Code sections 153A (Promoting enmity between a group of people), 323 (causing voluntary hurt), 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (criminal intimidation) and other sections.

Additional Commissioner of Police (Headquarter) Bharti Singh said, “A woman named Bhavya Rai was caught on video abusing and misbehaving with security personnel of the society. The police have registered a case based on the complaint of the security guard and her vehicle has also been brought to the police station.” She was arrested in Gautam Budh Nagar near Delhi and sent to 14-day judicial custody.

Another security guard, Karan Chaudhary, took a video of the incident. Chaudhary said, “The security guard was a little late in opening the gate when the woman was taking her car out of the parking. She created a ruckus over this and abused him.”
