Kumar's comment has not gone down well with a lot of netzines who suggested it to be insensitive. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Aam Admi Party leader Raghav Chadha have criticised the demolition drive. The locality witnessed clashes, stone-pelting and firing, between two communities during a Hanuman Jayanti procession on Saturday.

Kumar is not new to controversies, earlier in September 2021, the Times Now’s journalist had to face the ire of netizens when her clip where she used a derogatory term for Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on live TV went viral.  After which #KachraNavika had been trending on Twitter. Netizens demanded her apology for the same. She added that it was unintentional and the word she used was for a political situation and not for any specific person. “My intention was not to hurt any person’s sentiments”.

In January last year ARG Outlier Media Pvt. Ltd, the parent company behind the news channel Republic TV, filed a defamation complaint against Kumar alleging she made “rabid and unfounded claims” against their editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami.
