Resolute in Empowering Girls, Says PM Modi on National Girl Child Day

In a message shared on X, PM Modi expressed pride in the accomplishments of girls in various fields. He said, "Today, on National Girl Child Day, we reiterate our commitment to keep empowering the girl child and ensure a wide range of opportunities for her. India is proud of the accomplishments of the girl child across all fields." He added, "Their feats continue to inspire us all."

The Prime Minister also highlighted his government’s initiatives to eliminate discrimination against girls and emphasised efforts in key sectors. "Our government has focused on sectors like education, technology, skills, and healthcare, among others, which have contributed to empowering the girl child," he stated.

Union Minister Piyush Goyal shared a heartfelt letter dedicated to his daughter, Radhika, describing her as his greatest “pride” in an emotional post. He wrote, “My Daughter, My Pride…To my dear Radhika, Since you entered our lives, you have lit it with your radiant smile and infectious energy. I take pride in your transformation from a little girl to a strong woman. Your modern outlook resting firmly on the foundation of our traditional beliefs makes me confident that you will continue to walk life with poise and purpose. God bless you! With love, Papa!”

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also marked the day with a heartfelt message on social media, writing, "Daughters are the symbol of strength, courage, and dedication; they are full of hopes and aspirations for their better tomorrow. It is our responsibility to prepare a bright and secure future for them and take a pledge to give full rights to half the population."

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge reflected on the origins of National Girl Child Day and called for collective action toward gender equality. "Gender equality is the basis of true progress. Congress-UPA established National Girl Child Day in 2008, rooted in India's constitutional principles. Let the observance of #NationalGirlChildDay become a reminder to rededicate ourselves towards ending gender discrimination and providing every girl with the opportunities she deserves—education, healthcare, safety, and proper nutrition," he wrote.

Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya shared a personal note along with a photo of himself and his daughter, emphasizing the importance of daughters in families. He wrote, "Daughters are the beauty of the house... Daughters are a priceless blessing of God to their parents. My best wishes to all daughters and their parents today on #NationalGirlChildDay."

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also shared an inspiring message and wrote, “Girls are change-makers and empowered girls can bring transformational changes in the world. On #NationalGirlChildDay, let’s celebrate the immense courage of our girls who are breaking societal barriers every day to realise their dreams and pledge to empower them further so that they can thrive.”
