A police constable attached to Worli Local Arms (LA) was arrested by Bhandup police for allegedly molesting a 10-year-old girl.
According to reports, the constable has also been suspended from service and a departmental inquiry is pending in his case. The man has been identified as Harshal Bodke, 25. He is a resident of Mumbai's Kalyan. Police officers said that he had visited a Bhandup bar last week with his friends and after having some drinks they were roaming around on a bike in the railway station area.
Mumbai Police Constable Molests Minor Girl:
As per the complainant, the accused police constable got down from his bike and allegedly touched her daughter inappropriately. She reached the Bhandup police station to file a complaint before raising an alarm. The woman and her daughter had comes from to Mumbai from Ratnagiri.
According to reports, the police registered the complaint on November 15 and arrested the accused police constable under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences ( POCSO) Act, 2012. He was put under police custody for two days and then got remanded in jail custody by the local court.
Bodke, according to a police officer of Bhandup police station, claimed that he had not touched the girl with the intention of molesting her. He said that he has been married for the past give years and has no children. He said he loves kids and was trying to speak to the girl. The police department however found that his act was "shameful and immoral" and suspended him from service. The suspension order has been issued by the deputy commissioner of police, Worli LA division.
