CWC chairperson Kaniz Fatima revealed that the girl was a student of class 10 based in Katni under Kuthla PS in Madhya Pradesh. She had left her home for a fun trip after her board examinations. While waiting for a train at Katni station, she befriended a few youngsters who took her to a nearby park. They had offered her spiked food and drinks, following which she lost consciousness.

When she came back to her senses, she found herself with two men and a woman in a hotel room in Ujjain. The three of them threatened her and forced her to marry a 27-year-old man. After marriage, her "husband" revealed that he paid Rs. 2 lakh for her to the trio who held her captive.

The girl stated that four months later, her "husband" had died by accidentally consuming pesticide in an agricultural field. She was held captive by her "in-laws" for a month to mourn the death of her "husband." After that, they got her married to another man in Sathalkhedi village, in the Kanwas area of Kota district.

The girl said that this man, her "second husband," claimed that he had paid 3 lakh rupees to her in-laws to marry her. On Sunday, she attempted to commit suicide but successfully fled from her second husband's house.
