The government of Madhya Pradesh issued a notification for providing 35 percent reservation for women in recruitment, with the exception of the forest department.
In order to give women in the state with upcoming elections a 35 percent reservation, the government has amended the Madhya Pradesh Civil Services (Special Provision for Appointment of Women) Rules, 1997.
The notice reads, “Notwithstanding anything contained in any service rules, there shall be reserved 35 percent of all posts in the service under the state (except the Forest Department) in favour of women at the stage of direct recruitment, and the said reservation shall be horizontal and compartment-wise.”
MP Gives 35 Percent Quota For Women In Gov Jobs
The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, recently announced that 35 percent of vacancies in the police department and other government jobs will be open to women. He added that 50 percent of teaching posts will be reserved for women by the government.
He also announced the transfer financial assistance to beneficiaries under the "Ladli Bahna Yojana” scheme for October, which was initiated by the BJP government for the welfare of women. Under the scheme, the state government will give Rs. 1,250 per month to every beneficiary.
He explained that the amount will usually be transferred by the 10th of every month, but he was transferring it on October 4 (Wednesday), as elections will be announced soon and this cannot be done during the time of polls (owing to the imposition of a model code of conduct by election commission).
The assembly polls in Madhya Pradesh are scheduled to happen at the end of this year. With women voters surfacing as a decisive segment in recent times, the announcements are viewed as a significant outreach effort by the BJP government in power.
