Mother Arrested For Killing Her 4-Year-Old Daughter In Maharashtra: Report

A 22-year-old mother allegedly killed her four-year-old daughter by slamming her head on the wall and slashing her throat. The incident happened on Monday, July 27, 2020, in Pimple Gurav, Pimpri-Chinchwad in Maharashtra between 8 am to 12 pm. The mother informed her husband that she got angry as the girl won't listen to her and continue her mischief. She is currently in police custody.

The mother, Savita Deepak Kakade, lived with her husband, two children and in-laws in a building of Bhalekarnagar in Sangvi, reported Hindustan Times. Savita's husband is a taxi driver. The accused had two kids, the deceased daughter and a six-month-old son. According to the senior inspector of Sangvi Police Station, Ranganath Unde, the day of the incident marked the tenth day of the death of her mother-in-law. The husband went out to perform the rites and Savita was alone with her kids.

Reports claim that Savita warned her daughter to not be mischievous and cause her problems. When the daughter refused to listen, Savita got angry and allegedly slammed her head on the wall and slashed her throat. This happened in front of her son. When the husband returned he found his daughter dead. The body was later sent for post-mortem. After the procedures, the body was handed over to the father, and Savita was arrested.

The woman was presented for a court proceeding on Tuesday, July 28, 2020.

Mother dies by suicide after killing her two daughters who were rape survivors

In another similar incident in Pune, Maharashtra, a mother allegedly hanged herself after killing her two daughters and a son, reported ANI. The incident happened in Noor Mohalla of Pimpri-Chinchwad district on Sunday, July 26, 2020. The daughters were seven and nine years old respectively. The post mortem report the girls revealed that they were rape survivors and also confirmed that they were strangled to death.

Cases of both rape and murder have been registered by Maharashtra police. One accused other than the mother who died by suicide has been arrested. According to ACP Ram Jadhav, a case under various sections including the POSCO Act and 376 of IPC has been registered against the two. The investigation is still underway.
