A four-year-old girl was allegedly raped in Sasni, Hathras in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday. Reportedly, the accused is a relative of the minor survivor. He has been taken into custody.
Circle Officer Ruchi Gupta told ANI that a case has been registered by the police. According to the survivor’s uncle, the girl was playing outside her home when the accused took her to his house and allegedly raped her. After the family grew suspicious, the minor was taken to a hospital in the evening, where the doctors confirmed rape, reports News 18. A complaint was then registered by the survivor’s uncle with the local police.
Incident just a month after Hathras Gangrape
The incident comes to light just a month after the brutal gangrape and murder of a 19-year-old Dalit woman in Hathras. She was reportedly attacked on September 14 by four upper-caste men and succumbed to her injuries on 29 September. This incident sparked nationwide outrage and demand for justice.
As per the latest update in the case, the Allahabad High Court has rapped the UP government for “forcibly” cremating the deceased Dalit woman. Calling it a violation of the woman’s rights, HC said that the woman was “at least entitled to decent cremation in accordance with her religious customs and rituals, which essentially are to be performed by her family.”
