A Month After The Gangrape Case, 4-Year-Old Girl Raped In Hathras By Relative: Report

The 4-year-old was allegedly raped by a relative in Hathras. A compliant has been registered and the accused has been arrested by local police.

A four-year-old girl was allegedly raped in Sasni, Hathras in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday. Reportedly, the accused is a relative of the minor survivor. He has been taken into custody.

Circle Officer Ruchi Gupta told ANI that a case has been registered by the police. According to the survivor's uncle, the girl was playing outside her home when the accused took her to his house and allegedly raped her. After the family grew suspicious, the minor was taken to a hospital in the evening, where the doctors confirmed rape, reports News 18. A complaint was then registered by the survivor's uncle with the local police.

Incident just a month after Hathras Gangrape

The incident comes to light just a month after the brutal gangrape and murder of a 19-year-old Dalit woman in Hathras. She was reportedly attacked on September 14 by four upper-caste men and succumbed to her injuries on 29 September. This incident sparked nationwide outrage and demand for justice.

As per the latest update in the case, the Allahabad High Court has rapped the UP government for "forcibly" cremating the deceased Dalit woman. Calling it a violation of the woman's rights, HC said that the woman was "at least entitled to decent cremation in accordance with her religious customs and rituals, which essentially are to be performed by her family."

Hearing of Hathras case adjourned until November 2

The Lucknow bench of Allahabad HC has adjourned the hearing in Hathras case until November 2, after the first hearing that took place on 12 October, Monday. After the hearing, Seema Kushwaha, the lawyer of the deceased survivor's family said, “The victim’s family has demanded that reports of CBI be kept confidential. We had also prayed that the case be transferred out of UP. The third demand is that the family be provided security until the case completely concludes.”

Yesterday, the late survivor's mother was shifted to a hospital after she was taken ill following her return to the village from Lucknow.
