Cricketer Abhishek Sharma In Police Radar Over Model's Suicide Case

A 23-year-old Indian cricketer, Abhishek Sharma has been summoned by the Gujarat police over a 28-year-old model Tania Singh's suicide case. The news was reported by Gujarat Tak, and it was alleged that the Surat-based popular model was found dead at her Happy Elegance Apartment on Vesu Road on February 20. The model purportedly died by suicide after returning home late at night.

Police investigation has now confirmed the case as "high-profile" after the young Indian cricketer, Abhishek Sharma's name surfaced in the case. Sharma's was reportedly the last dialled call on the model's phone. The local police have yet not contacted Sharma but plan to soon send a notice to the IPL player for further inquiry in the case.

The 23-year-old all-rounder Abhishek Sharma who is a Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) player in the Indian Premier League has found himself in the middle of the controversy as his contact number was found in the deceased model's phone records. Reportedly, Sharma was friends with Singh for some time but had not been in touch with her as of late. 

The Indian Express reports alleged that the cricketer had blocked the model's phone number and had not been responding to her messages on social media. Singh also messaged the cricketer on WhatsApp moments before her death which were also left unanswered.

ACP KN Damor informed that the deceased was working in an event management company and returned home late at night on Sunday. Singh who has been living with her parents was found dead hanging to the ceiling when her father Bhanwar Singh went to wake her up on Monday morning and no suicide note was found by the investigators. 

ACP informed the name of the cricketer came up when the investigators were skimming through the Call Detail Record (CDR) and IP Detail Record (IPDR) of the model's phone where Sharma was the last dialled contact. ACP said that the cricketer has yet not been contacted but soon will be sent a notice for further inquiry.

The police are yet to confirm the link between the two. Tania Singh who hails from Hyderabad is a popular Surat-based model who has been pursuing modelling and fashion designing over a year and a half and has 10k followers on her Instagram. Her Instagram bio also states she was a disc jockey and make-up artist. 

The Internet is now flooded with cricketer and model's social media pictures together which surfaced after the news of the model's suicide and Sharma's name caught up in the controversy. Gujarat police have now summoned Sharma for an inquiry and suspect a romantic relationship between the two after the CD-R report revealed Sharma's name in the model's phone records.

The young cricketer has a promising cricket career and is known for his aggressive batting and all-rounder skills. He embarked on his IPL journey through Delhi Daredevils in 2018 before he was chosen by Sunrisers Hyderabad. The cricketer has also played for Punjab in the Ranji Trophy.
