Diksha Singh, a 2015 Miss India contestant and model will be contesting in the Uttar Pradesh District Panchayat Elections. She will be contesting for Zila panchayat member from Ward No. 26 of Baksha Development Block in Jaunpur district.
Singh is a native of the village Chittori located in the Baksha area of Jaunpur district and has studied there till standard three. She later moved to Mumbai and then to Goa and received her higher education from MES College of Arts and Commerce, Zuarinagar, Goa.
Diksha Singh said that she had been participating in political debates in college and also used to visit her village from time to time. She further said that Jaunpur is far from a developed district and her intent to fight the election is to usher in a change in her village.
Previously Singh’s father Jitendra Singh was preparing to contest from the same seat, but then it was reserved for women. Hence, Singh decided to contest in the polls this year. Her father Jitendra Singh runs a transport business in Goa.
Singh will be competing against Shalini Singh, the daughter-in-law of the late BJP leader Ram Chandra Singh. The nomination papers of the Jaunpur Panchayat Elections will be filed on April 3 and 4, and the first phase of the same will start from April 15.
Diksha Singh started her modelling career after she completed her graduation. In February this year, she was seen in the music video of Rabba Mehar Kare by Darshan Raval. She also appeared in the music video of the song Teri Aakhon Mein by Raval and Neha Kakkar. She is also to be seen in an upcoming web series.
