Minor Girl's Murder Leads To Protests

  1. The owner of the flat was arrested, and the girl’s body was sent for a post-mortem. The accused confessed to killing the child on the advice of an occultist.
  2. The accused, identified as Alok Kumar, revealed that he had met an occultist in Bihar a few months ago who instructed him to sacrifice a minor by Navratri if he wanted to have a biological child.
  3. Following the instruction, the accused kidnapped the girl and took her to his flat, where he strangled her to death. Reportedly, the deceased minor girl also suffered a head injury, possibly from a hammer. She also had injuries in her genitalia that were supposedly caused by fingers.
  4. Police sources said that they are investigating the statement given by the accused, and if it turns out to be true, the occultist involved will soon be arrested.
  5. The local residents took to the streets on Sunday night and staged a protest outside the Tiljala Police Station. They vandalised several police vehicles and alleged that the police had delayed searching for the missing girl.

  7. The local residents placed blockades on the roads leading from Tiljala to Monday and demanded the police release the detained prisoners. Their blockage resulted in disrupting traffic and train services as they blocked the key EM Bypass and railway tracks in the South Sealdah section.
  8. According to police officials, three police vehicles were ransacked, and one of them was torched.
  9. The residents also pelted police officials with stones. A huge team of security forces had to reach the spot and disperse the locals.
  10. Police officials said that they have been speaking to the protestors and keeping an eye on the situation.
