The district authority informed the digging took some time and was delayed due to the presence of hard rock. The girl is identified as Shristi Kushwaha, who is just two and a half years old.

Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Chouhan asked officials to rescue the little girl safely. The officials from his office are directed to be in constant touch with the district authorities. Further information is awaited.

Similar Incidents:

There are many incidents of children falling into borewells over two decades. And these incidents don't seem to be stopping even now. While many children are rescued, a few families have lost their children to such accidents. Why these borewells are not covered and other measures are taken to ensure their safety and avoid these evitable accidents?

More than a dozen of such incidents are reported just in Madhya Pradesh in the last one and half years from different parts of the state. Earlier, a similar case from the Vidisha district of Madhya Pradesh was recorded where a 7-year-old boy fell in a borewell and was rescued 24 hours later by a joint operation of SDRF and the Indian Army. However, the little boy succumbed to death by the time he was rescued.
