Millie Bobby Brown To Produce And Star In Netflix Film 'The Girls I’ve Been'

Millie Bobby Brown will reportedly be essaying the role of Nora O’Malley, who is a bisexual con artist in the original young adult thriller titled 'The Girls I've Been' written by Tess Sharpe.

Millie Bobby Brown, of Stranger Things' fame, is all set to headline Netflix's upcoming production The Girls I’ve Been, an adaptation of Tess Sharpe’s novel of the same name. Brown will also produce the feature film, alongside Jason Bateman, who plays the lead in the Netflix series Ozark. Both these producers' respective shows have earned nominations for Best Drama at the Emmy Awards 2020.

16-year-old Brown will reportedly be essaying the role of Nora O’Malley, who is a bisexual con artist in the original young adult thriller by Sharpe. It follows her story, as she embroils herself in a hostage situation with her ex-boyfriend and secret girlfriend at the bank, and the subsequent events that take place thereafter. The fiction novel will be published in early 2021, as per reports.

Millie Bobby Brown turns producer

Brown and Bateman will produce the film under their own banners, PCMA Productions and Aggregate Films Banner respectively, according to Deadline that first broke the news of the film's release.

Brown's Stranger Things and Bateman's Ozark are known for being among Netflix's top-performing shows, affirmed by their latest Emmy nominations. Bateman, in addition, has also scored multiple solo nominations - a third consecutive one in the Best Actor category for his role on the show, and yet another for Guest Actor on HBO's The Outsider.

Brown's only nomination is for her show Stranger Things. She had earlier received a solo Emmy nomination for Supporting Actress in 2018.

Brown's Other Upcoming Projects

Brown's list of upcoming films also includes Enola Holmes, where she will play the role of legendary detective Sherlock Holmes' sister. The cast reportedly features Henry Cavill, Sam Claflin, and Helena Bonham Carter, and the film is slated for a September release.

Brown rose to fame for her role as Eleven in Stranger Things, a sci-fi horror show created by the Duffer Brothers that premiered in 2016. The three seasons of the show have earned acclaim across the board for their superb ensemble cast and a fresh storyline that follows the adventures of kids in the supernatural town of Hawkins, Indiana. Shooting for the fourth season is halted amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
