This incident reiterates the plight of women who are always at the receiving end of men, who consider themselves superior to the female and believe in overpowering women.

People across social media have been condemning the culprits, who were involved in the incident, which took place on September 19. The police intervened during the assault and rescued the woman, who was later examined medically and was then sent to the Bareilly mental hospital in UP. The police arrested the men on the spot and registered an FIR against them.

What's worse is that the men are seen hitting the woman as she pleads with them to not hit her, while the crowd does not intervene and instead watches the horrific display. Some are seen recording the video on their phones but take no initiative in coming forward and helping the woman out of the deadly situation.

The shocking video of the incident has now been circulating over social media, as the viewers can witness the brutality carried out by men. The insensitive attitude of the men clearly states their intention in physically assaulting her to no end until they're interrupted by the police.

In the recent past, cases including assault on mentally challenged women have increased drastically. In February earlier this year, a mentally challenged woman was raped in front of her sick mother in Kerala. The perpetrator used her mental condition to his advantage and assaulted her, and threatened her. He was arrested later. In May, a mentally challenged woman was assaulted by three men in Chennai, when she was alone at her house. The perpetrators were arrested after the incident.

With the involvement of the police and further investigation, the Meerut woman is now safely resting at the mental hospital in Bareilly. It's disappointing, to say the least, to see the merciless behaviour of people in how they treat both women and the mentally challenged.
