Barbara Jarabica statement: Mehul Choksi's alleged girlfriend Barbara Jarabica has now claimed that it was Choksi who approached her, befriended her, and asked for her number. She added that this is totally opposite of Choksi's wife's claims.
Barbara Jarabica said that Choksi had introduced himself as 'Raj'. "I know him (Mehul Choksi) since last August and met with him in Jolly Harbour when I rented Airbnb accommodation near where he also lives. He introduced himself as Raj. Between August and April, he was always texting me but I replied to him once a month," she earlier said in an interview with ANI.
She claimed that Choksi tried to convince her, into joining the diamond business, and that he had gifted her fake diamond rings.
She then became very frank about her relations with the fugitive businessman. She made it clear that she wasn't his girlfriend, and that he wasn't her 'sugar daddy' or anything. She added that she has her own income and business and that she doesn't need Choksi's cash, fake jewellery, support, etc.

Priti Choksi, the wife of Mehul had given completely different statements. After Mehul and Barbara's WhatsApp chats went viral, she said that the chats were 'fabricated' and asserted that her husband did not need to hide under the name 'Raj'. She also questioned Barbara's long silence on the matter.
Priti also accused her of being a part of the spy ring, which according to her kidnapped her husband, to take him out of Antigua on May 23. However, Barbara refuted all the claims and said that she was never involved in any such activities.
"If I wanted to abduct him, why would I do it at my home at busy daytime hours when everyone was there on the street, walking," she said.
