She demonstrated impressive Taekwondo moves while being eight months pregnant. The official Twitter handle of the National Sports Festival tweeted a video of Idrees in action. "An inspiring outing by heavily pregnant Aminat Idrees who won a gold medal for Lagos at the ongoing National Sports Festival in Benin, Edo State. Aminat Idrees who is 8 months pregnant won gold in the Mixed Poomsae category in Taekwondo,” read the video's caption in the tweet.

"I just decided to give it a try after training a couple of times... It feels really good. Before I got pregnant, I have always enjoyed training, so it didn’t seem different with pregnancy.”
  2. Besides winning the medal, Idrees also won the silver medal in the female team Poomsae category, and also an individual bronze medal. Idrees had also competed alongside a male athlete named Arowara Roqeeb at the National Sports Festival. A video of the same was shared on Twitter.
  3. The video went viral, and many netizens said that she was indeed an inspiration. One called Idrees a badass, amazing mom-to-be.
  4. Another Twitter user praised the flexibility and intelligence of the Poomsae technique she demonstrated.
  5. However, there were many people who criticised Idrees for doing taekwondo while being eight months pregnant. Many called her 'mad' for 'endangering' her baby. But Idrees defended herself by saying that her doctor and her event organisers had ensured that she was fit before participating in the event.
