Ten Things To Know About Meerut's Horrific Class 10 Student Gangrape Case

Two arrests have been made so far in the horrific Meerut gangrape of a class 10 student, based on the girl's suicide note.

Meerut student gangrape case: A class 10 student from Uttar Pradesh died by suicide after four men allegedly abducted and gangraped her while she was on her way to her tuition class. In her suicide note, she mentioned the names of two men belonging to a neighbouring village, and their two associates. The girl's family has however raised questions about her death being ruled as suicide.

Here are 10 things you need to know about the Meerut gangrape case:

  1. Four men allegedly abducted and gangraped a girl in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh on Thursday, April 1. She was a class 10 student and came from a village under the Sardhana Kotwali area. The incident took place while she was on her way to a tuition class.
  2. According to reports, after returning home on Thursday evening, she narrated the harrowing incident to her parents.
  3. The girl later consumed poison. While she was taken to a hospital, she died there while being treated.
  4. Meerut's Rural Superintendent of police Keshav Kumar said an FIR has been filed in the case based on the note left behind by the minor.
  5. On the basis of the suicide note,  the police have also arrested two culprits, Lakhan and Vikas, who come from a neighbouring village.
  6. The police is now looking for the remaining two other men.
  7. The girl's family said that when she failed to return home from tuition, they launched a search for her.
  8. The girl's brother said that when they went to look for her at her tuition, they found out that she never made it to her class.
  9. The deceased minor's uncle has further alleged that the girl didn't consume poison by herself. It was the perpetrators who administered it to her.
  10. While Meerut police are sure that the suicide note left behind is authentic and is in the 15-year-old's handwriting, they have sent it to a forensic lab for further testing.
