MDH Owner Dharampal Gulati Passes Away At 98; Celebs Mourn The King Of Spices

Many celebrities took to Twitter to pay tribute to the spice legend, Dharampal Gulati.

Iconic spice brand MDH’s owner ‘Mahashay’ Dharampal Gulati breathed his last on the morning of December 3, Thursday. After suffering a cardiac arrest at around 5:38 am in the morning, Gulati passed on. He was 98. He was popularly known as the “Spice King”, owning the spice company MDH or ‘Mahashian Di Hatti’, initially started by his father. Gulati was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2019, which is the country’s third-highest civilian award. During the coronavirus pandemic, the ‘MDH chahaji’ even donated 7,500 PPE kits for healthcare workers in Delhi.

Many celebrities took to Twitter to pay tribute to this spice legend.

Television actress Samiksha Bhatnagar, of Ek Veer Ki Ardaas…Veera, Devon Ke Dev…Mahadev and Baal Veer fame, tweeted, “Thank you Mahashay Dharampal Gulati ji for making our lives so spicy and flavorful You will always be remembered for your famous words 'Asli Masale Sach Sach M.D.H MDH."

News anchor and environment reporter Gargi Rawat posted, “One more blow in 2020. The MDH Uncle, Dharampal Gulati, who looked the same for most of my life has passed away. An iconic face for all of us #RIP.

Sushma Swaraj’s daughter Bansuri Swaraj, an advocate at the Supreme Court also posted about the demise of Gulati. She wrote, “My heartfelt tributes to the man who added flavour to our food for generations. You will always be remembered for your zeal for life. Heavens shall be fragrant with your presence Masala King! Rest in peace #DharampalGulati ji ."

Swachhta Brand Ambassador Mondrita Chatterjee, who rose to fame with her initiative to construct toilets for the needy paid her tribute to the “Spice King” writing, “Asli masaale sach sach, MDH MDH!" We will surely cherish our MDH wale Dadaji in our hearts Om Shanti!”

YouTuber and influencer, who goes by the name ‘Asli Aditi’, also posted a picture with Gulati and wrote, “His Story...Struggles and Achievements are all so inspiring... Even in his 90's #DharampalGulati ji never refused a single selfie...He was so patient with everyone...I will always cherish my fan moment with him....We will miss u sir. RIP sir”.

Mamata Kundu posted, “#Asli masale sach sach MDH MDH This punch line has a separate fan base& a special childhood memory..Demise of #DharmpalGulati ji marks end of a majestic era of revolutionary entrepreneurship. My heartfelt tribute 2 D departed soul who added spice2 everyone's life . #kingofspice”.
