Mathura: 17-Year-Old Girl Harassed, Pushed Off Terrace By Three Stalkers

Two accused have been arrested in the Mathura girl harassment case. She was reportedly being stalked for the past one year.

Mathura girl harassment case: A 17-year-old girl was reportedly pushed off her terrace by three male stalkers who barged into her house in Uttar Pradesh's Mathura on Monday night. As per her family, she was being harassed by the accused for the past year.

The survivor is reportedly in critical condition at a hospital in UP, having sustained head injuries and spinal cord fracture.

An FIR for assault and attempt to murder was lodged in the case Tuesday after the girl's family filed a complaint at Chhata police station.

The Mathura police, as per a video on their official social media handle, said they had taken cognisance of the case and due action would be taken. Two accused have been arrested while a search for the third is on.

Mathura Girl Harassment Case: Here's What Happened

As per the girl's brother Dinesh Singh, their father got a call Monday around 8 pm from an unknown number, with the caller asking his name and location. Reports say CCTV footage from the neighbourhood shows the bike-borne men enter the survivor's house at 8:30 pm.

"Soon, three men arrived on a motorcycle and barged into our house. They assaulted my family members, including mother and sister. Two of them forcibly took my sister to the second floor and threw her from the balcony, breaking her spinal cord," he said, as quoted in a PTI report.

CCTV footage of the girl falling to the road has gone viral on social media.

The family has alleged they approached the police the night of the incident but were turned away and told to come on Tuesday, the next day.

Superintendent of Police (Mathura rural) said the FIR names the three accused and one other unidentified individual in the case.

As per data by National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) 2019, Uttar Pradesh ranks among the top Indian states with stalking crimes, with 496 cases in one year.
