On Sunday, January 19, Paris Olympic star Manu Bhaker faced a personal tragedy as her maternal grandmother and maternal uncle lost their lives in a road accident. The victims, Savitri Devi (70) and Yudhveer (50), who worked as a driver for Haryana Roadways, were travelling on a scooty when the accident occurred on the Mahendragarh bypass road in the Charkhi Dadri area.
According to officials, a Brezza car struck their scooty, resulting in both victims dying on the spot. The car driver fled the scene immediately after the accident, confirmed Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Suresh Kumar.
He stated, "The accident took place between Mahindergarh Chowk and Bhiwani Chowk. We reached the spot, and the driver (of the car) fled from the spot. A post-mortem has been done. A case has been registered against the driver."
Manu immediately reached Charkhi Dadri and visited her family home. A video being shared online shows her consoling her family members who are distraught after the tragedy.
