Blood Donors Mangaluru was created six years ago. "We have already held 226 blood donation camps in the past six years," said the president Siddiq Manjeshwar. The Women's Wing, however, was established three months ago. It has more than 70 active members today and is headed by Ayisha U K Ullala.
The Women's Wing conducted the first blood donation camp at Urdu School in Bunder. "As many as 70 women members participated in the camp and 22 were able to donable blood during the camp." Siddiq also mentioned that this is probably the first for women by women blood donation camp in the region. Women from regions such as Kundapur, Uppinangady, Puttur, Mangaluru and Ullal participated in it.

Siddiq talked in detail about how the group has a bigger presence than just in Mangaluru, “The functions of Blood Donors Mangaluru are not limited to Mangaluru city, but it also helps people in other parts of the state. We also have members holding camps in foreign places like Dubai, Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Our group is not affiliated with any political or religious organizations. Hence, our service also has no political or religious barrier. In our group, we believe that all blood donors belong to one community."
The group has also held donation camps with almost every hospital and medical college in the city. They also get calls from people, especially relatives of patients from North Karnataka who require blood. However, these people often find it difficult to arrange for blood because they are away from their native homes. So Blood Donors Mangaluru helps them arrange for blood.
Mangaluru has not witnessed a major crisis when it comes to blood requirements because there are many such groups that conduct regular blood donation camps.
