According to the ANI tweet, the investigation is now handed over to CID by the West Bengal Government.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was visiting Nandigram on Wednesday to file her nomination for the coming assembly elections where the incident took place. A video was released wherein the West Bengal leader had given a statement that a group of four-five unknown men had pushed her. She further said that she was injured when a crowd surged around her car and pressed into her.

Poll Panel's conclusions on the Mamata Banerjee Incident

After this incident happened, the Poll Panel had a meeting to discuss this concerning issue. And after a thorough meeting and discussion, the panel came to the conclusion that the incident was an accident. The cause of this incident was Mamata Banerjee's security which was 'not properly handled'.

Mamata Banerjee was not found travelling in the security that is assigned to her. Mamata Banerjee has Z-Plus security, has to travel in a bullet-proof car. It was found later that Mamata Banerjee's security in-charge Vivek Sahay was seen to be travelling in her bullet-proof car. To this, the Panel said, the action can be taken.

Investigation handed over to CID

After the West Bengal government had made their side of investigations in the case, the probe of the incident has now been handed over to the CID for thorough research. A team of six members has already been formed for this investigation. This team is headed by the ADG CID.

Apart from this, Mamata Banerjee is now all set to lead her rally campaigning for the upcoming Bengal elections in a wheelchair. Bengal will vote in eight rounds starting March 27 and the results will be declared on May 2.
