Malaysia Singer Siti Sarah Succumbs To Covid-19 Days After Giving Birth

Siti Sarah Raisuddin  was 37 years old and eight-months pregnant with her fourth child. She along with her husband Shuib Sepahtu, and their three kids aged 10, eight and six contracted the virus in July.

Malaysia Singer Siti Sarah Raisuddin: The popular singer who was eight-months pregnant gave birth to a baby and days later passed away due to Coronavirus infection without being able to hold her baby once.

Siti Sarah Raisuddin was 37 years old and eight months pregnant with her fourth child. She along with her husband Shuib Sepahtu, and their three kids aged 10 to 6 contracted the virus in July. Siti Sarah passed away in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre where she was admitted on August 4, after her oxygen levels plummeted. She was being treated in the ICU. She was put into an induced coma and her child was delivered by surgery.

The family reportedly tested positive for coronavirus after their domestic worker contracted the disease. Raisuddin’s husband Shuib Sepahtu, is a popular comedian. He shared the news of her death on Instagram writing, “My heavenly angel has gone forever. I ask you to please give your Al-Fatihah.” The singer was buried at the Kampung Sungai Pusu Muslim cemetery in Gombak.

Sarah had 2.7 million followers on Instagram. Her fans and well-wishers have been reaching out to the family in their hour of grief. Even the Malaysian king and queen have expressed their condolences to Raisuddin's family. In a Facebook post, the palace wrote “Their Majesties also expressed their sadness over her passing and hoped that her family will be patient and resilient as they cope with the loss.” The Prime Minister of the country Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin also conveyed his condolences to the grieving family. "Not only are the family members and her fans in sorrow but all Malaysians including myself are also sad," he said.

The singer shot to fame after the release of her duet with Jamal Abdillah in 2007. She married Sepahtu in 2011.

Raisuddin’s management company, Indigital Music has issued a statement confirming her death.

Malaysia has announced an easing of COVID-19 restrictions for fully vaccinated in eight states. This will come in effect from Tuesday.
