Malaysia Masters 2017: Saina Nehwal Wins Grand Prix Gold

London Olympics bronze-medallist, Saina Nehwal on Sunday thrashed Thai opponent to pick the Malaysia Masters Grand Prix Gold. This was a hard-fought victory in the summit clash. It’s a great achievement for Saina as the ace player took the gold home and won a title for the first time after a career-threatening injury.

The top-seed was up against 18-year-old Thai Pornpawee Chochuwong. Saina beat her with 22-20, 22-20 in a match last lasted for 46-minutes. With this win, Saina now has total of 23 titles and this is her first after last year's Australian Open.

During the entire match, Saina defended her positing desperately because it was months since she had displayed a champion performance. A must-needed victory didn’t come in easy ways.

The 26-year-old world No.10 was fighting against an opponent who ranked more than 50 places below her at 67th. Saina dominated the first round and Chochuwong failed to save the game. In the second game too, the Hyderabadi remained in the lead, and fended off Chochuwong to score up to 22-20.

Well done Saina! Hardworks finally paid off!!
