LSR Student Devanshi Ranjan Wins Diana Award For COVID-19 Relief Work

Devanshi Ranjan, a student of LSR has been working with NGO Ladli Foundation Trust to aid deprived children, especially with their education amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

 Devanshi Ranjan: A 21-year student of Lady Shri Ram College (LSR), Devanshi Ranjan, has been awarded Diana Award for assisting the UN Sustainable Development Goals and doing relief work during the pandemic.

Devanshi Ranjan, a student of LSR has been working with NGO Ladli Foundation Trust to aid deprived children, especially with their education during COVID-19.

The award is established in memory of the Princess of Wales, Diana. It is considered to be one of the highest recognitions a young person can achieve for social deed or humanitarian work. It is awarded by the charity of the same name and has the support of both Diana's sons - Prince William and Prince Harry.

Devanshi Ranjan explained that her work was centred around the COVID-19 pandemic relief work and mentioned that she worked with NGO Ladli trust and under its program, 'Pathaansahla" conducted workshops and educated students from villages and slums.

The 21-year-old reportedly taught over 1,000 children in the slums across New Delhi. Along with it, she distributed stationery, books, and other required items in the rural and semi-urban areas of Delhi-NCR.

"I found out that I will be honored with the Diana Award on May 5. I was extremely elated but couldn't share the news with anyone except for my immediate family till the commencement of the virtual ceremony on June 28," the Award winner told PTI.

The Diana Award, given to people under the age category 9-25 years, was given to 400 people globally.

"We congratulate all our new Diana Award recipients from the UK and all over the globe who are change-makers for their generation. We know by receiving this honour they will inspire more young people to get involved in their communities and begin their own journey as active citizens," said Tessy Ojo, CEO of The Diana Award during the virtual award ceremony.
