She is currently under observation at a private hospital in Kochi and the police have nabbed four people in connection to the case.

Kochi Gangrape Case: 10 Things To Know

1. The survivor is a 19-year-old girl who is a model by profession.

2. She was at a club partying with her friends when she collapsed and was later carried to a car where she was allegedly gangraped.

3. An FIR under sections 370 and 376 were registered in connection to the case post which the police arrested three men and one woman in the case. The accused are under judicial custody of Ernakulam Police currently. They are booked under section 370 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

4. The Kochi Commissioner of Police issued a statement saying that they are waiting for the medical reports of the survivor to ensure whether or not any drugs were given to the girl.

5. According to the latest report, the girl had visited a club near a Shipyard. The four accused offered to drop her home and they allegedly gangraped her on way.

6. The accused raped her in the moving vehicle through the city and eventually abandoned her near her house in Malappuram.

7. This matter came to light when the private hospital the girl was being treated informed the police about it. The survivor's roommate got admitted to the hospital, post which an FIR was filed.

8. The Minister of Health for Women and Child Development Veena George has now stated that the strictest punishment will be given to those found guilty of the crime and that the treatment of the survivor is their utmost priority.

9. Reports suggest that the model knew the woman who had swayed her into the club on the pretext of landing her a modelling project.

10. The survivor is currently undergoing treatment at Kalamassery Medical College.
