In Kerala's Kottayam district, a 26-year-old woman died by suicide after alleging cyberbullying by her ex-boyfriend. The woman was discovered dead on Monday at her residence in Manjoor village.

Kerala Woman Ends Life

The police said the deceased woman once had a connection with a Neezhur-based male, but they subsequently ended it mutually. According to the police, the accused threatened to post the woman's pictures on social media and began harassing her.

On April 30, in the late evening, the woman complained to the Kaduthuruthy Police.

The police revealed that they reported the incident, but they were unable to find the culprit because he was hiding. The police added that the alleged perpetrator knew that the police had received a complaint about him and were looking for him, but that didn't stop him from continuing the cyberattacks.

He shared the woman's pictures on social media. In addition, the complaint stated that the individual also published their private chats, according to authorities. He also published images of the woman's sister's IAS officer spouse and threatened to hold her brother-in-law accountable if he were to be imprisoned. The woman was the sister of a Manipur sub- collector's wife.

The deceased alleged that she was being cyberbullied and faced online harassment.

Reportedly, she had been facing online harassment for the previous few days when her ex-boyfriend posted her images online. According to the woman's family, she was really upset by the allegedly harassment.

The police said that before going to bed everyone had reassured the woman and encouraged her not to worry, but the following day, she killed herself.

The woman's brother-in-law said that the woman was getting married. The family was soon to organise the wedding ceremony.

In accordance with Sections 306 (abetment of suicide) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 119 (b) of the Kerala Police Act, Kaduthurthy Police have filed a complaint and begun an investigation.
