Kerala NEET Row: Female Aspirants Asked To Remove Bra, Case Filed

A father of one such aspirant, informed the media about the same, calling it a traumatic incident for his daughter, forced to sit uncomfortably without a bra for 3 long hours.

Kerala NEET Row: A 17-year-old girl was asked to remove her bra, in Kollam Kerala before appearing for the NEET exam on Monday, July 18, 2022. This incident was brought to light by the girl's father and a police case has now been registered.

Young female NEET aspirants, who appeared for the exam on Monday, were allegedly asked to remove their innerwear in Kollam district, Kerala. Father of one such aspirant, informed the media about the same, calling it a traumatic incident for his daughter, forced to sit uncomfortably without a bra for 3 long hours. Kerala state police have now registered a case. The spokesperson of the institution has now pointed fingers toward National Test Agency (NTA), stating that the staff of the agency is responsible and the exam center bears no responsibility for the incident.

Kerala Row: Neet Exam Aspirant's Horror

Kerala police have now reportedly registered a case, following the NEET incident, in Kollam district Kerala. A case has been registered under  Indian Penal Code (IPC) Sections 354 and 509 . The incident allegedly happened at the Mar Thoma Institute of Information and Technology at Ayur Kollam, where the exam was held.

The case was filed based on the statement issued by the girl. The statement was recorded by a team of women police officers. The police also revealed that an investigation has been probed in light of this incident. The father of the girl spoke to the media and said, “But many students, including my daughter, could not write the exam with confidence after months or years of preparation due to the perverted approach of a few persons, The thought that they don’t have innerwear while sitting in a hall where boys were also writing the exam, made the girls uncomfortable. Many girls said they could not concentrate on the exam. This was cruel."

The Kerala State Human Rights Commission has also gotten involved in this case, ordering a separate investigation. The Human Rights Commission has demanded a report to be filed in 15 days by the Kollam Rural Superintendent of Police. Kerala states Higher Education Minister Dr. R Bindu has called this incident “highly deplorable” stating- “There is a serious lapse on the part of the agency and its staff (which frisked the girls). It is highly deplorable that such an approach has been taken toward the girls"
