LDF homemakers pension in election manifesto: The Left-Democratic Front (LDF) on Friday released its election manifesto ahead of the Kerala assembly polls. The 50-point programme carries 900 promises by the Pinarayi Vijayan-led Communist Party of India (Marxist), one of them being pension for female homemakers of the state.
With a focus on social welfare, the LDF manifesto also promises close to 40 lakh jobs for the youth, free housing for people of scheduled castes and tribes, and security for Kerala’s elderly population. The manifesto also outlines the aims of making the state self-sufficient in the production of vegetables and milk.
LDF Homemakers Pension For Women: Financial Security?
A Vijayaraghavan, state secretary in charge of CPI(M) while releasing the manifesto in Thiruvananthapuram, mentioned the LDF homemakers pension but did not elaborate on the same. He, however, announced that monthly welfare pension, availed by senior citizens and widows, would be increased from Rs 1,600 to Rs 2,500.
Social security schemes of pension for homemakers, especially women, exist to ensure benefits for non-earning family members who don’t have other means to secure funds for support.
