Kerala To Give 3 Lakhs Rupees To Children Orphaned By COVID-19 And Monthly Allowance

Kerala CM announced the plans and schemes developed by the state for the welfare of children orphaned due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Kerala CM has also announced a one-time help of 3 lakh to the children who were orphaned due to COVID-19. He also announced that an amount of Rs 2,000 would be given to these children on a monthly basis till they reach the age of 18.

Further, the state government would also bear the costs of their education till the degree level, added Kerala CM.

Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan shared important guidelines on COVID-19, the children orphaned due to COVID-19 and the situation of the current Board Exams.

For the welfare of the children orphaned by COVID-19, the Odisha and Manipur governments had also decided to take care of children by providing schemes and financial help. Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani announced that 577 children across the country were orphaned after their parents passed away due to Covid-19.

About the Board exams, Kerala CM has directed the education department to conduct the Kerala Board Class 11 examinations during the Onam holidays. The Kerala CM further added, "Kerala has strong objections to what is happening in Lakshadweep. It will be correct to have a common resolution in the Assembly in this regard and take necessary action."

Recently, Health Minister of Kerala Veena George said, that the state of Kerala has received 91 lakh doses from the centre. George also added that 49 % of the people above the age of 45 years have been vaccinated by at least one dose. 20 % of the people above the age of 45 have received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The Kerala CM said that there were 24,166 new cases detected in the past 24 hours. These cases took the overall tally of active COVID-19 cases in the state of Kerala to go to 2,41,966. He also added that there have been 181 deaths due to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. The state has a total of 21,98,135 recovered cases.
