Kavita Lakhani Named President Of Women’s Indian Chamber Of Commerce And Industry

Kavita Lakhani, Executive Director at GolinOpinion, a PR agency, has been named as the National President of the Women’s Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WICCI). She will also take over WICCI’s public relations and digital marketing operations during her tenure that will last till December 2021.

Kavita, who is ranked among the top 16 Women in Indian PR Consulting, has served as a core team member of Lintas’ sexual harassment committee, according to her LinkedIn profile. The post-graduate in Finance said that she is thrilled to be working with the WICCI group. “Together we will continue to build strong partnerships and relationships within the business community, as well as actively work in the area of policy advocacy,” Kavita told Business World.

Talking about breaking the glass ceiling in the industry, Kavita explained, “The communications industry in India has been very male-dominated for so long. It has undergone a huge transition in the past few years and I personally think we are a lot better off for it.” Sharing anecdotes from her working days, she told Vikypedia.in in an interview, “I’ve started to become quite interested in the dynamics of more senior women at the top of organisations, and embedded right throughout as well, as the role that they play is in making the workplace more nurturing, welcoming and a more creative environment.”

Talking about choosing Kavita, Harbeen Arora, Founder President of WICCI, said, “This position is recognition of Kavita’s deep industry knowledge and achievements. Kavita has won several awards in her career. She was awarded Leading Woman in Media by Women in Leadership Forum India in 2011. She is a recipient of the Women Leadership Award by World Women Leadership Congress in 2014. “I am a firm believer in gender equality and the role women and feminine values have to play in the workplace,” said the recipient of Woman Agency Head Of The Year Award by adgully.com in 2020.

Kavita is currently working as an Advisory Board Member at FinLabs India.
