Juhi Chawla Slams Airport Authorities

Actor, environmentalist, and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) co-owner Juhi Chawla on Wednesday evening took to  Twitter to criticise the Airport Authority of India (AAI). She reportedly was at the receiving end of poor treatment at the airport on her arrival in India. She was returning from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) after the conclusion of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Not only Chawla but other passengers were stranded at the health clearance queue for more than two hours. Reacting to the situation, she decided to make the authorities aware of the "poor arrangement."

On Twitter, sharing a small video of her experience at the airport the 53-year-old actor wrote: "Request the Airport and Govt authorities to IMMEDIATELY deploy more officials and counters at the Airport Health clearance ... all passengers stranded for hours after disembarking .. ... flight after flight after flight .....Pathetic, shameful state ..!!"

In the video, Chawla also captured how other passengers like her, all wearing face masks, in a hall, were waiting for their turn to move ahead in the queue. Her voice was heard saying “This is going to cause a lot of corona, it will be your responsibility."

She, however, did not mention which airport she was stranded.

The official Twitter handle of AAI apologised and wrote back: "Dear Ma'am, We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused. Request you to please let us know which airport are you travelling from, so that we may escalate this issue at the earliest. Thank you, Team AAI."

While many followers were impressed that she spoke up, reacting to her tweet, fellow actor Vindu Dara Singh wrote: “Yes it’s just too many forms and paperwork must simplify and allow all to go home and self quarantine!”

One user lashed out commenting that it is worrying "if this happening in well maintained environment than what will be position in rural areas, dense area, social distancing not for society.” Another suggested that this was quite normal for non VIPs and said, “That’s so endemic of all airports in India! VIPs are whisked away quietly in minutes! That’s how India works, Ms Chawla!”
