Jaya Bachchan Tests Positive For COVID-19, Isolates At Home

Jaya Bachchan has tested positive for COVID-19 and is reportedly under home isolation.

According to reports, a Mumbai corporation official has said that Jaya Bachchan tested positive for COVID-19 five days ago. Bachchan is the latest celebrity to get infected with the virus.

Jaya Bachchan was shooting for Karan Johar directional Rocky Aur Rani ki Prem Kahani. Earlier it was reported that the film's shooting has been postponed due to Bachchan's COVID-19 rest results however a source told Times of India, "All covid rules and regulations are being followed and Karan is still shooting for the film." Shabana Azmi, who is also part of the film's cast, recently tested positive for the virus and is currently self isolating at her home.

Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani is a love story starring Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Dharmendra, Shabana Azmi and Jaya Bachchan in lead roles. One schedule of the film's shooting was done in Delhi. Shabana Azmi while talking about the film said that she is glad to see Jaya Bachchan on film set again.

Azmi said, "Jaya ji bohot dino baad set pe mili. We shared a lot of memories from our film Guddi (1971). We have a blast on the sets. I open up and mix and mingle with my co-stars.”

Bachchan was last seen making a guest appearance in Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor starrer Ki and Ka. Before that she was seen a Bangladeshi film. Rocky aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani will have Jaya Bachchan play a significant role after many years since she was seen in Shah Rukh Khan starrer Kal Ho Na Ho for which she also the filmfare award. In 2021 it was announced that Bachchan is going to make digital debut with a show titled Sadabahar. 

Jaya Bachchan is currently serving as a member of Committee of External Affairs. She is a member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha from Samajwadi Party serving her fourth term.
