The Samajwadi Party MP spoke in Rajya Sabha about why tourists don't come to India due to lack of facilities. "I want to talk about culture and entertainment tourism which is a very important part of today's time...Other countries don't have as many heritage sites as India. We are proud of it. But how are they maintained? What are the facilities there?" If you want to attract international tourists, they want facilities and cleanliness." Jaya Bachchan added.

Jaya Bachchan Slams Uttarakhand Chief Minister's Sexist Remark

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat's sexist remark on ripped jeans was too met with a sharp retort from Jaya Bachchan. Rawat had earlier said that he was shocked to see women in ripped jeans which caused an uproar on social media. Bachchan then reacted by saying that such kind of mindset only encourages crimes against women. "Those in higher posts must think and make public statements. You say such things in today’s times, you will decide who’s cultured and who’s not based on clothes?" she said.

Her granddaughter Navya Naveli Nanda took to Instagram to condemn Rawat's remark. She shared several pictures of herself in ripped jeans, and wrote, "I’ll wear my ripped jeans. Thank you. And I’ll wear them proudly."

Earlier, CM Rawat had attended a workshop organised by the Uttarakhand State Commission for Protection of Child Rights in Dehradun where he was outraged to see a social worker wearing ripped jeans. He said that a woman like her was setting a bad example. His wife Rashmi Tyagi has supported his remarks by saying that his words were 'wrongly interpreted' by people.
