Italian film star Daria Nicolodi, who starred in cult Hollywood classics like Deep Red and Inferno, passed away on November 25 at the age of 70. Her daughter and Italian actress Asia Argento shared the news via her Instagram account, “Rest in peace beloved mother. Now you can fly free with your great spirit and you won't have to suffer anymore. I will try to go on for your beloved grandchildren and especially for you who would never want to see me so grieved." The cause of Nicolodi’s death has not been revealed yet.

Daria Nicolodi Passes Away At 70
Born on June 19, 1950, in Florence, Tuscany, Italy, Daria Nicolodi acted in over forty acting projects during her decades-long career. Deadline reported that after moving to Rome in the late 1960s, she began acting in television projects. Nicolodi eventually broke into movies in the 1970s. Thereafter, she met director Dario Argento during the shooting of Deep Red (1975). The couple dated for a long time and also had a daughter, Asia Argento. Later, in 1973, Nicolodi had another daughter named Anna with sculptor Mario Ceroli. However, Anna passed away due to a car accident in 1994.

Nicolodi is considered to have been Dario Argento’s muse and featured in many of his movies, including Inferno (1980), Tenebre (1982), Phenomena (1984), and Opera (1987). As per Fox News, the late star also starred in Italian horror auteur Mario Bava’s final film Shock (1977) as well as contributed to the screenplay for Dario Argento’s directorial Suspiria.

Various notable personalities have paid tribute to the late actress. Writer/director Edgar Wright shared a collage of Nicolodi’s pictures on Twitter and wrote, “RIP to the wonderful Daria Nicolodi, co writer of Suspiria and truly magnetic star of Shock, Tenebrae, Phenomena, Opera and, my very favourite, Deep Red (Profondo Rosso).”

American actress Barbara Crampton too offered her condolences: “Rip Daria Nicolodi. Fabulous writer and performer.
