This year, St. Patrick's Primary School is set to create waves as it prepares to embrace an astonishing seventeen sets of twins for the upcoming academic year.

The phenomenon of a higher influx of twins isn't new in this tight-knit Scottish community, and locals have coined the term "Twinverclyde" to capture the uniqueness of this occurrence.

With the new school year scheduled to commence on Friday, August 18, the institution is gearing up for a remarkable start, boasting the second-largest number of twins ever recorded.

As reported by The Guardian, the Class of 2023 was treated to a dress rehearsal on August 11, a week ahead of their first official day.

An impressive turnout of fifteen out of the seventeen sets converged at the school premises in Greenock, creating a memorable and heartwarming event.

Graeme Brooks, the deputy provost of Inverclyde council, commented, "Accepting a higher number of twins has evolved into an annual tradition in Inverclyde. The excitement is palpable as we anticipate the beginning of the new term next week. What better way to usher it in than witnessing the students in their splendid uniforms?"

Describing the dress rehearsal as a delightful gathering for both parents and children, Graeme Brooks emphasised that it offered a moment of levity before the real school journey begins this coming Friday.

The legacy of accepting a higher influx of twins traces back to 2015 when primary schools in the region accomplished a remarkable feat by welcoming an unprecedented nineteen sets of twins.

This record has remained untouched since then. In 2015, Inverclyde saw fifteen sets of twins, which decreased to twelve the following year.

With the new academic year, the Class of 2023 adds a staggering 147 sets of twins to Inverclyde's twin count since 2013.

On average, approximately thirteen sets of twins embark on their primary school journey in Inverclyde each day.

St. Patrick's primary school, along with Ardgowan primary school, stands out as the two institutions that have proudly set records by accommodating the most pairs of twins in the local community.

Notably, a significant milestone in the realm of twin records was achieved in 2012 by a secondary school in Britain. De Aston, located in Market Rasen, Lincolnshire, garnered widespread attention by accommodating an astonishing twenty sets of twins.

As the Class of 2023 at St. Patrick's primary school prepares to write a new chapter in the Twinverclyde phenomenon, the world watches in awe at the power of shared connections and the charm of identical bonds that unite these extraordinary students.
