In a terrible accident on the occasion of Ram Navami, a stepwell in a temple collapsed, taking in a large number of devotees gathered to worship the birth anniversary of Lord Rama. The rescue operation is under process and new stats about the trapped and rescued people have been released.

India is a land of festivals and each festival is celebrated with zeal and passion. People gather to worship and perform rituals and there are fairs that they enjoy with families. However, these festivals are also sites of some terrible accidents as the authorities tend to neglect little faults which end up turning into a bigger disasters. Mishaps are common in mass gatherings and events during festivals which end up ruining the happy vibes of the festivals. A similar accident happened in Madhya Pradesh's Indore where the roof of a stepwell in a temple collapsed and many people fell into it. Here is the entire incident and what happened.

Over five bulldozers have been deployed at the site to take down the illegal construction at the temple. Several officers reached the site at the time to make sure no other disturbance was caused in and around the area while the demolition was carried out.

1. The incident happened in Indore's Beleshwar Mahadev mandir where a large number of people had gathered on the occasion of Ram Navami.

2. The crowd celebrating Ram Navami was large and the interior of the temple was packed with heavy footfall on the floor.

3. The floor of the temple suddenly collapsed and around 35 people fell into a ditch under the floor of the temple.

4. The temple housed a stepwell whose roof worked as the floor of the temple. The roof could not bear the load of the devotees and hence collapsed.

5. The rescue operation was initiated by the administration and people were brought out of the stepwell with the help of ropes and ladders.

6. As per the reports, around 14 people were rescued and a total of 36 people died in the tragic accident.

7. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his grief over the unfortunate incident and said that he had a conversation with MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and assured that rescue work and relief work is in progress. CM Chouhan also tweeted that the administration is looking closely into the matter and working at a fast pace to rescue people.
