Popular vlogger and online star Rifa Mehnu was found dead at her Dubai home, reports this week said. The 20-year-old was from Kozhikode in Kerala. She is survived by her husband and their two-year-old son. Reports suggest efforts are underway to repatriate Mehnu's body back to India from the United Arab Emirates.
Mehnu was a hijabi model and influencer with over three lakh followers on Instagram. Her content revolved around lifestyle, food and fashion. She also had over 30,000 subscribers on her YouTube channel. Her husband Mehnaz is also an influencer with lakh followers of his own and together, the couple created vlogs and starred in music videos.
The couple lived in an apartment in Al Jafiliya, where Mehnu's body was discovered.
Latest Update: Rifa Mehnu's husband Mehnaz was taken into custody. She had died by suicide and her husband was booked under the Protection of Child from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for marrying his late wife when she was a minor.

Some initial reports indicate that Mehnu allegedly died by suicide. The circumstances surrounding her death are unclear and as per a source cited by Khaleej Times, Dubai police are yet to release the forensics report. Mehnu's body is expected to be sent back to India on Wednesday.
The last post on Mehnu's Instagram account was made just three days prior to reports of her death. She, along with her husband, had visited the Kozhikode Star Restaurant in the UAE, a vlog of which was shared on her profile. Fans of the influencer are leaving condolence messages in the comments section of her posts.
On Mehnaz's profile, meanwhile, the latest post dates to a day ago and shows him standing in the vicinity of the Burj Khalifa.

Last year, the death of another young YouTube star left the fan community in shock. Shreya Muralidhar passed away last year in December after reportedly suffering a cardiac arrest. She was in her late 20s. Her untimely demise had prompted an outpouring of grief from netizens.
